Mitch Needelman

Mitch Needelman, CFA, is a Principal and Senior Portfolio Manager at Spectrum Asset Management, Inc.

With broad experience in valuation, portfolio construction and asset allocation decisions, Mitch’s duties include portfolio management and investment counseling for individuals, families, and corporate entities.

Working to meet a vast array of unique client needs for over 25 years, Mitch’s research and portfolio management experience includes investment solutions with traditional stocks, bonds, ETFs, and mutual funds, as well as Alternative Investments such as, REITs, trust deeds, private equity, private loans, tax lien certificates, crypto and crowd-investing.

Prior to his work at Spectrum, Mitch served for 15 years as President of Needelman Asset Management, Inc., a Registered Investment Advisor located in Orange County, CA that was successfully merged into Spectrum in 2018. He began his career at Brandes Investment Partners, a multibillion-dollar Independent RIA located in San Diego, CA, where he was charged with building out a fledgling electronic research effort. His responsibilities included acquiring and integrating data from disparate financial databases, developing screens, financial modeling, and standardizing the distribution of valuation data that drove portfolio management decisions.

Mitch holds a BA in Liberal Arts and Sciences with a minor in Information Decision Systems from San Diego State University, and an MBA with emphasis in Finance and Accounting from the University of California, Irvine. He also earned a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 2001 and has served as an Investment Committee Member on the CFAOC Foundation.

Mitch is a southern California native who has lived between LA and San Diego his entire life. He currently resides in Orange County, where he and his loving wife are raising their four children. In his free time, Mitch enjoys spending time with family, camping, overlanding, surfing, biking, and hiking.
